Biologist Steven McKray travels to South Africa to join his colleague Mark DeSantis, who had alerted him to an incredible surge in shark attacks in the region. Upon his arrival, he learns of his friend's suspicious death and meets his sister, Corinne DeSantis. After dangerous dives in murky waters, the pair discovers that the sharks' abnormal aggression is linked to mysterious scientific research...
